Anyone who knows me probably knows of my love for Winston Salem. Seriously, this little city is one of my favorite places on earth and I've had the pleasure of getting to know it one weekend at a time thanks to my boyfriend. A little over two years ago Trevor moved to Winston Salem for a job. At the time it seemed like the end of the world because I wouldn't be able to see him at all during the week, but fast forward two years and I visit as often as possible and am pretty jealous that he gets to love there full time! From the best restaurants and coffee shops, to the farmer's markets and kombucha breweries, to the art district, this place is my little slice of heaven. My last visit to Winston Salem was an interesting one, I was so excited to visit after being gone almost the entire summer, but it was pretty sad knowing that would be my last visit until Christmas! Knowing this, Trevor planned the best twenty-four hour visit ever! We started by going to a new place for dinner called Spring House. I seriously cannot believe it took so long for us to get there. We had made reservations multiple times in the past but for one reason or another we had to cancel every time! Finally, we made it, and it did not disappoint!
Winston was dressed to the nines in his new Hawaiian shirt from Petco (I managed to snag this little shirt for only $3!!!) and was feelin' himself. Spring House is pet friendly at their outdoor seating which was a major pull for us to go here that night because I wanted to spend every second possible with my two boys before leaving for the semester!
Let's just talk about how cute the walk from the parking lot is... seriously. To the left is a little garden where the restaurant gets some of their veggies and herbs.
Our waitress was so great, she brought Winston a little water bowl of his own before we even ordered drinks!
They have a pretty small menu, but I felt like there were plenty of choices! I had the lamb, it came topped with grapes. I was a little unsure at first because I had never had lamb cooked this was, but it was SO GOOD!
I honestly can't remember what this drink was called, but it was pretty great and was served in a super neat way... I think Winston wanted some!
After dinner we looked around the garden for a bit, because well, I love gardens. I cannot express how cute this place was even though I never really saw the inside!
After dinner we went to another cool spot that we had previously tried (and failed) to go to, Quarry Park! This project was recently completed by STITCH Design Shop, an architecture firm in Winston Salem. I've visited their office before and they were super nice people! They have so so so many projects going on in downtown right now.
I don't think Trev could have timed this more perfectly, we made it just in time to watch the sunset over the downtown skyline!
The lighting was perfect so of course I had to get a photo with my little pup!
I can't wait to go back to Winston Salem around Christmas time! It will probably be a good 60 degrees colder than this visit, but the city is just as charming if not more during the holidays.
We've eaten at so many places and done so much in Winston Salem over the past two years, let me know if you ever need an recommendations and I'd be happy to provide them!
