I / / d a r e / / you to ask God a question.
Ask Him to help you understand something you don’t understand about this complex thing that is Christianity. I’ve heard so many people say things like, “The Gospel is simple.” And it is, in in that we have a simple decision to make, but behind the scenes, there’s also such a beautiful complexity to it. Every time I think I fully understand it, the Father takes me deeper and shows me an even greater amount of love and a more intricate plan than I could ever imagine.
Today, I’m overwhelmed by the Father’s interest in my questions. Just about every time I have a phone call or conversation with my best friend, a question about the faith arises. And in the moment, I think it’s unanswerable, but then somehow Father directs me in the most subtle of ways to His answer. That’s what I love about Father. He cares so deeply about our little wonderings and listens so intently even when we aren’t speaking directly to Him. He’s listening, watching, waiting for a way to show His great love and interest in us. And He gets to do that in abundance when we ask, ‘why?’
It sounds cheesy, but I really have this vision of all of Heaven watching us have experiences in life, like we gather around a TV watching the Super Bowl, and when we dare to ask ‘why’, all of Heaven jumps from their seats and shouts ‘YES!’ There's clapping and high-fiving, because that’s where the God is. God is in the 'why'. So I dare you, think a little deeper about the things and people you encounter today, and be brave enough to ask ‘why.’ I truly believe all of Heaven is rejoicing when we say that one word.
